1.
My Exceeding Joy As the deer longs for the water As the desert longs for rain So my soul is thirsty for you, God, day and night I call your name When my enemies surround me And pierce my heart with swords of doubt By the power of your Spirit, Lord, let praise come pouring out Why are you cast down, O my soul? Why are you struggling? The Lord has not forsaken you So put your hope in him, Put your hope in him At the bottom of the ocean Of your deep mysterious ways Would you give me a heart of worship and the faith to boldly pray As I cry out for your mercy I'm surviving by your power Lord, I have no strength or righteousness, how I need you every hour Send out your light and your truth, send out your light and your truth Let them lead me to your holy hill Send out your light and your truth, send out your light and your truth Let them lead me to God, my exceeding joy
2.
Where Are You? My soul clings to the dust, revive me with your word I'm tired and weighed down, a stranger on this earth Where are you, God? I am on my knees Where are you, God? Won't you help me, please? Where are you, God? Can you hear my cries? Speak to me, speak to me Incline my heart to you, and not to selfish gain Forgive me for my sin, O God, show me your way Where are you, God? Don't you leave me now Where are you, God? Lord, I lay me down Where are you, God? I will wait for you Speak to me, speak to me Through suffering, all I ask is that I hear your voice Though tears run down my face, Lord, teach me to rejoice Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah (x3) You know I love you, Lord, though I don't understand You know I love you, Lord, though I can't see your plan I love you, Lord, for your grace I plead I love you, Lord, you are all I need I love you, Lord, please draw near to me Speak to me, speak to me
3.
Refuge 03:44
Refuge For God alone, O my soul Wait in silence For my hope is in Him I shall not be shaken Trust in Him at all times, all you weary people Pour your hearts out before Him He is our refuge Once he has spoken Twice I heard that he is mighty And that you love me, O my Lord, You love me steadfastly Trust in Him at all times, all you lonely people Pour your hearts out before Him He is our refuge God is my rock and my salvation, he is my fortress, I won't be shaken (x3) Trust in Him at all times, all you broken people Pour your hearts out before Him He is our refuge
4.
Hymn (O Holy Dove) O Holy Dove who downward flies From heaven, come! my soul baptise! Unblock my ears, unblind my eyes For sin and Satan I despise, But for the Lord, O my heart cries! O Word of God who made the earth And yet endured a fleshly birth Us to redeem from the law's curse And death and hell and what is worse, To know not Your surpassing worth! O Abba Father! God, we cry, O would that You would rend the sky And pour upon this land so dry Your streams of life which purify. O God, Your Name now glorify! O Triune God, Your kingdom come, And now on earth Your will be done. The hour is here, exalt the Son, That to Him all the tribes may come Confessing, God our LORD is One. O Lord our God, You are one Lord make us one in You O Lord our God, You are one Lord make us one in You Lord make us one in You
5.
Seal Upon My Heart I will worship you, Lord I will worship you, Lord Every day I'm humbled by your great love Every day you save me, and set me free To live abundantly So I set you as a seal upon my heart Not even death can tear us apart Let the flame of your love burn in me Guard my wandering heart jealously Because I want to be yours I want you to be mine I will thank you, Lord I will thank you, Lord For the Son of Man came not to be served But to give his life as a ransom for me O Lord, how can this love be? Jesus, Son of David, you've had mercy on me Jesus, Son of David, now all I want is to see your glory And I will follow you, Lord I will follow you, Lord You have called me by name, called me your own Hearing your voice is like coming home I will run after you
6.
Face to Face 04:54
Face To Face Hear, O daughter, and incline your ear Forget your people and your Father's house The King is calling you, the King is calling you He is infinitely glorious And beautifies you with his righteousness The King is calling you, the King is calling you And O, my Bridegroom, I will run to you In glad obedience I will dwell within your house And rest in your dwelling place O Beloved, take me as your own I long for the day you will come and take me home And I'll see you face to face Shake yourself now, from the dust awake Loose your bonds and clothe yourself with strength The King of Glory comes, the King of Glory comes Lift up your head and lift up your eyes Fill your lamp with oil and shine your light The King of Glory comes, the King of Glory comes He calls me to the wedding feast and love is his banner over me In his Father's house he prepares a place That where he is, I may also be
7.
Celebrate! 04:31
Celebrate! So great is your love that you came down among us So great is your love that you laid down your life So great is your love for your church that you sought her And saved her from death to be your spotless wife Kingdoms rise and kingdoms fall, your covenant of peace remains Seasons come and go, through it all, your faithful love will never change And we will celebrate, celebrate, celebrate your love Oh - h, celebrate, celebrate, celebrate your love ('Cuz it's so much higher and so much wider and So much deeper than anything we've known (x2)) You love us though we are wandering sheep You love us though we are prodigal sons There's hope for us in the twinkling of your eyes We will be changed when you come like the sun (Kingdoms rise...) Not for a good man might one dare Nor for a righteous man to die that he might live But while we were sinners you laid yourself bare Spread your nail-pierced arms out wide, and cried "Father, forgive" Father, forgive!

about

Recorded in the week of Prince William's wedding, Taryn Leia Prescott’s ‘Songs of the Bride’ express with aching vulnerability the pain and the joy of covenant love. With her quirky lo-fi instrumentation, defiantly heart-felt lyrics, and biblical themes, Taryn’s album stands in the vein of indie folk artists such as Mumford & Sons, Sufjan Stevens, Iron & Wine, Brooke Fraser and Jon Foreman.

The songs came out of the experience of her first year of marriage to Peter Prescott, a Cambridge street-preacher. Married in Taryn’s native India in July, the couple expected to come and live together in England – only to unexpectedly have immigration officials deny Taryn her visa, leaving her stranded in Bangalore, five thousand miles from her husband. Such events might cause a newly-wed bride to question her faith in an all-powerful God. But Taryn clung on to her Christian hope, and during that time began writing what she calls "the most honest songs I've ever written".

Now finally in Cambridge, Taryn has been singing in cafés and churches, at prayer meetings and garden parties. She recently aired her single 'Face to Face' on Matt Jamison's Easy Sunday Show (BBC Radio Cambridgeshire). Modelled on the ancient love song found in Psalm 45, it is particularly relevant in the wake of Prince William's wedding and her own reunion with her husband. However, ‘Songs of the Bride’ is less about either of these love stories than the cosmic love story of a Bridegroom who paid the highest price possible to win back a wayward bride.
