Verse 1: Three letters and a mathematical sign separating your future and mine Would you know it when you saw me? Would we seem worlds apart in your ordinary life? Verse 2: Let's sit down, and talk a little more 'cuz I have plans and dreams just like yours Coming to terms, you and me with who we have to be In our ordinary lives Chorus: Living like there's no tomorrow Loving like there's no tomorrow Living like there's no tomorrow Do I make you think about your life today? Verse 3: Walk these streets, watch the faces passing by See the fatal truth in their eyes Destruction in our blood, is there any cure but love for this ordinary life? Chorus: Living like there's no tomorrow Loving like there's no tomorrow Living like there's no tomorrow Do I make you think about your life today? Bridge: Every now and then, I step out of shades of grey My annual epiphany struck earlier today If I was really fading, not just hypothetically What would I do, where would I go? What on earth would I say? Chorus: Gotta live like no tomorrow Gotta love like no tomorrow Gotta live like no tomorrow 'Cuz I want more than an ordinary life today I want more than an ordinary life today I want more than an ordinary life today

Verse 1: Just keep walking forward You can weather this storm I know your feet are aching I know you've been walking for so long Don't lose it now, the end is in sight Almost there, just don't give up the fight, Ohh... Chorus: Not alone, not afraid Not mortally fragile Broken but strong, you'll be all right In a little while Verse 2: Just keep walking forward, there are glorious things for you to see Though the earth give way and though the mountains fall into the sea Don't lose it now In the eleventh hour Take courage, friend, you've come so far, Ohh... Chorus: Not alone, not afraid Not mortally fragile Broken but strong, you'll be all right In a little while Bridge: Though the shadows grow so tall and the night hangs heavy over you Though you feel you've lost it all, lost your sense of what's real or true If the night sky takes you in What you knew, know it again What you knew, know it again That the light, the light will come again The light, the light's in you, my friend the light, the light will surely win Will surely win, we'll surely win Ohh… Verse 3: Just keep walking forward though they press you hard from every side They're tough as nails but you're a diamond formed in depths of fiery trial Don't lose it now in the eleventh hour What they don't know is who you are, Ohh... Chorus: Not alone, not afraid Not mortally fragile Broken but strong, you'll be all right In a little while Don't let them tell you you've lost Just 'cause you are on your knees in the dust

Ben Oni 04:10
Verse 1: Calling all the children, children with the eyes of tired old men Calling all the children, fending for themselves since who knows when Pre-Chorus: Sons of shards of clay Daughters of broken glass Earth is yours someday, but today Chorus: Who will treasure you (x3) Ben Oni Verse 2: Calling sons of sorrow, may you learn to run and laugh again Calling sons of strength, may you let your walls down now and then Pre-Chorus: Sons of shards of clay Daughters of broken glass Earth is yours someday, but today Chorus: Who will treasure you (x3) Ben Oni Bridge: Things too deep, too marvellous for me Can't save this world, can't solve these mysteries But like a child close to her mother's heartbeat Hush, be still and know... (Chorus) Verse 3: Calling all the dreamers fell asleep before you lived your dreams, Arise. Descant: I know you're small and weak and fell right through the cracks in the land But you are precious to me, chosen son of my right hand And I will hold you till your crimson sorrow fades away There is a place for you nestled between my shoulder-blades, and Now I will love you till the sky falls down in sheets of flame And I will love you When the world is still and new again You can believe me when I say from now we're family Nothing can separate us for all of eternity
4.
Verse 1: As I stand here on this in-between road Not where I came from, not where I'm going to go O I know, O Lord, what you require of me and your burden is light, your yoke is easy Chorus: So I'll do justly and love mercy and walk humbly with my God Verse 2: As I stand here even the road disappears Darkness like velvet does anyone know that I'm here? I feel lost, confused, bewildered, far from home But who I really am is who I am when I'm alone Chorus: So I'll do justly and love mercy and walk humbly with my God I’ll do justly and love mercy And walk humbly with my God Bridge: Now I know that the LORD is a light in the dark, the Father of orphans is He, the helpless the LORD will defend He has lifted me up, Set my feet on a rock I have great mercy received Must I not mercy extend? Instrumental outro

Verse 1: I am a flower in a field, I am a sparrow in a tree But you know that when I fall, I am dust, can only crawl, when I can't get any lower, you're still here Verse 2: I see the sky a canopy, a blanket with holes pulled over me But you hear me going under and you come in coals and thunder You seem so far but somehow, so very near Pre-Chorus: And I'm alright when I'm by your side I'm alright when I'm by your side I'm alright Chorus: How you save me, It's only you that stands between me and the million ways that I would choose to give myself away How you save me, By the way you speak so tenderly and calm my fears by promising you'll stay Verse 3: I am a cloud just out of reach I am a sand grain on a beach But you know me when I'm flying and you know when I'm just lying But you love me just the same, oh, just the same Pre-Chorus: And I'm alright when I'm by your side I'm alright when I'm by your side I'm alright Chorus: How you save me, It's only you that stands between me and the million ways that I would choose to give myself away How you save me, By the way you speak so tenderly and calm my fears by promising you'll stay Bridge: Can't say your way's convenient 'Deus Ex Machina' isn't how my story ends, but When push comes to shove, is it enough? Is it enough that you have shown me that you love me more than life itself? Outro: How you save me, ooh How you save me, lalalala (x8) (And I'm alright, I’m alright When I’m by your side)

about

These are songs that I’ve written over the years. I wrote them in an attempt to grapple with suffering, both my own and others’. Divorce, fatherlessness, loneliness, broken families, disease, poverty, untimely death – these things are real. Yes, tiny, malnourished children in South India live in a hospice, infected with AIDS because of the foolishness of their parents. Yes, so many people are lonely, so many marriages are crumbling, so many struggle for hope and meaning. Yes, I’ve felt the sting of these things, and so I will not offer trite answers or belittle the big questions.

These songs are for my brother, Micah, and for the kids at PACT, Chennai. Life might have tried to name you Ben-Oni (Son of Sorrow) but the Father has named you Benjamin (Son of my Right Hand, Son of Strength), and I pray He carries you on His strong shoulders (Deuteronomy 33:12).

These songs are for my cousin, my brother, my friend, Reuben, who dreamed of living a life of uncommon generosity. He went to be with the Father long before we were willing to let him go, but we know we will see him again, in the twinkling of an eye, when the right Person speaks the word “Arise”. (1 Corinthians 15:52)

These songs are for Cousin Abi, for Paul, for Masrat, for everyone who has been through the dark night of the soul. ‘Don’t forget in the dark what you knew in the light’ – God is still loving and faithful and kind, and everything’s going to be just fine. (Romans 8:37) He’s going to fix everything, we will hope in his promise until it comes true.
